Almost no attention has been paid to the fact that Cho Seung-Hui was not an American at all, but an immigrant, an alien. Had this deranged young man who secretly hated us never come here, 32 people would heading home from Blacksburg for summer vacation.
What was Cho doing here? How did he get in?
Cho was among the 864,000 Koreans here as a result of the Immigration Act of 1965, which threw the nation's doors open to the greatest invasion in history, an invasion opposed by a majority of our people. Thirty-six million, almost all from countries whose peoples have never fully assimilated in any Western country, now live in our midst.
Cho was one of them.
That is Pat Buchanan today with his lessons on the Virginia Tech massacres. You know, Pat Buchanan the holocaust denial guy, the one who used to defend fascist prison guards, yet still managed to have a show on CNN, and is now a continual guest on MSNBC. Cho was in this country for 15 of his 23 years. This was a very American crime. They don't have the plague of homicide in South Korea that we do here, but Buchanan saw a place to make more racist xenophobic rants with this situation.
To paraphrase Donald Rumsfield, "You write a racist column with the facts you have, not the facts you want". Seriously, why is this man still on our airwaves? Does he have pictures of Jack Welch in bed with a pig wearing lipstick? Don Imus was fired for saying something very offensive. Pat Buchanan is very offensive. Why is he on my television step all the time?

Now the mentally ill who have been involuntarily committed for psychiatric treatment will no longer be allowed to purchase fire arms legally following an executive order by Governor Kaine.
I wish we would stop being so reactive on things like these. Mentally ill people who are dangers to themselves and others need compassionate treatment, and don't need easy access to firearms. Do we really need Virginia Tech to tell us this? I suspect that this will not be the last case of a mentally disturbed individual killing people with guns.
The NRA will likely fight this in court. The crazy wingnuts will too. They are always worried that they are going to get institutionalized for their weird views. If only!!! They have nothing to fear. You have to be pretty out of control to get hospitalized these days. The fact that we have a culture of violence, and a culture that does not do enough for mentally ill people is not unrelated. We don't need more Virginia Tech incidents to tell us this.

Obviously, liberals are to blame for everything including Virginia Tech according to the Newtster. In the link, it is noted that Newt blamed liberalism for Columbine. What should have been mentioned was Gingrich's other history of pulling this crap.
Every time something bad happens, liberals are to blame. Take that fine young liberal woman Susan Smith who drowned her kids. According to Gingrich, it was the fault of the lefties. Then reality kicked in.
Journalists might also ask Gingrich about Smith's stepfather, Beverly Russell. Prior to the kids' disappearance, Russell was busily campaigning not for the depraved Democrats, but for Newt Gingrich and his minions. Russell was a Republican leader in South Carolina and local organizer of Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition.
During the nine days that Susan Smith had the country hunting for a nonexistent black carjacker, Russell urged nationwide prayer for the two missing kids: "All we can do is pray. This is a nightmare."
A prominent businessman and stockbroker, Russell married Smith's mom after she divorced Smith's dad (who later committed suicide). From the age of six, Russell raised Susan Smith in an upper-middle-class, church-going home. Gingrich's campaign comments notwithstanding, the home was free of counterculture and welfare-state influences.
But Susan Smith attempted suicide at age 13, and at age 15 told authorities that her stepdad had been sexually molesting her for at least a year. Her mother helped talk her out of pursuing charges against Russell. (At age 18, she attempted suicide again.)
In other words, this act is getting extremely stale. In 1994 it was Susan Smith, then in 1999 it was Columbine, now it's Virginia Tech and the serial adulterous, hypocritical windbag is given a microphone to say these things repeatedly without rebuttal. I am tired of the act. Did liberals make Newt divorce his first wife (and geometry teacher) when she had cancer? Did liberals make Newt have to be sued for child support? Did liberals make Newt cheat on his second wife in the office while he was displaying moral outrage about Bill Clinton?
We liberals must be awfully busy to cause homicides and to keep making Newt act in morally repugnant ways. I never realized we were this powerful.
