Desecrating The Flag
We had to destroy the village in order to save it. In order to save our liberty, we must give much of it up. This lesson was learned the hard way yesterday by folks in my home town who were accused of "desecrating the flag" by hanging it upside down, and pinning anti George W. Bush slogans to it.
Arrest reports show Buncombe County Sheriff’s deputy Brian Scarborough went to the Kuhns’ home on 68 Brevard Road about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a complaint of an American flag on display after being desecrated.
State law prohibits anyone from knowingly mutilating, defiling, defacing or trampling the U.S. or North Carolina flags. Lt. Randy Sorrells of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said the Kuhns desecrated the flag by pinning signs to it, not by flying it upside down.
This couple appears to be libertarian because of their prominent Ron Paul placards in the photos taken of them, but it would be wrong to hold that against them. They must be under the mistaken impression that we have liberty in this country. Didn't they read page 853 sub section 3 of the Patriot Act? Irony and cognitive dissonance have replaced freedom as American virtues. They voted on it and everything
Banning flag burning to defend America is like pouring oil down the drain to protect the environment, or running around in fear in order to defend ourselves from being terrorized.
I personally don't have a flag flying. That's only because of the quality control problems from the Chinese workers who make them. Nothing worse than a prisoner or somebody who makes $.78 a day disrespecting our flag with shoddy stitching.
If this couple ends up needing a legal defense fund, let's chip in and give them a little scratch if it won't embolden the terrorists.
