Crooks All Around Us
The NY Times details the myriad of members of congress under investigation. So far there are 12 Republicans and 2 democrats under some sort of inquiry. Of course, Republicans are more corrupt than democrats due to their lack of ethics, but their power over the last 12 years helped them have something to offer for those who wanted to cheat the system.
I wasn't using hyperbole btw about the lack of ethics of Republicans in congress. They are tolerating the heck out of the crimes of the Bush administration. They refused to do oversight. The democrats did much more oversight of Clinton.
The GOP now is a festering wound of corruption. They genuinely don't give a shit about ethics. Tom Delay may be gone (under indictment), but his spirit lives on.

Via Correntewire I learn that a disgraced Interior official J. Steven Griles, and his girlfriend,Sue Ellen Wooldrige, a lawyer at the Justice Department jointly bought a beach house that cost $1,000,000 with a VP at Conoco. She then allowed Conoco to delay paying $500,000,000 in fines and clean up costs for a dirty refinery.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Federal authorities confirmed Thursday that Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons is being investigated for failing to properly report gifts or payments from a software company that was awarded secret military contracts when he was in Congress.
A federal law enforcement official confirmed the FBI probe. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, said the inquiry is focusing on what role Gibbons played in awarding military contracts to eTreppid Technologies LLC in Reno and whether he received any gifts in exchange.
Gibbons said he had not been contacted by the FBI regarding his contacts with Warren Trepp, a longtime friend and owner of eTreppid who contributed nearly $100,000 to Gibbons' campaign for governor.
If any of you remember, Gibbons got himself in a bit of a jam during last year's campaign when a cocktail waitress accused him of assaulting her after a night of drinking. No charges were filed, but the investigation into possible witness tampering in the case is ongoing.
