Ted Kennedy believes so and is discussing it over at Huffington Post. That for me is a tough one. If we want to start talking about Native American injustices, slavery, toppling leaders of foreign states and replacing them with puppets, Iran-Contra, supporting apartheid in South Africa, there are alot of other contenders. Torturing human beings is way high up there, but to our shame, it's a debatable question in my mind. We should be much better than this. We aren't. Those of us who watch American Idol while our government commits human rights abuses are partially culpable. We allow it.

Over at DailyKos, Jeff Huber points out that the Bush administration is saying that it's even worse if rogue elements are supplying weaponry to Iraq. Bush's quote from yesterday is revealing.
But my point is, what’s worse, them ordering it and it happening, or them not ordering it and its happening? As Jeff points out, our administration says that what happened at Abu Ghraib was a bunch of bad apples that we didn't order to abuse prisoners. Following this logic, their defense, lies that it is, is not a valid one.The media calling Bush out over the inherent contradictions of course is a fool's dream.
