The War On Those In Poverty
McClatchy has a heart breaking story about the rise in housing difficulties for the poor. Many of these people are working poor who have seen rents rise as their paychecks haven't. The percentage of people who are devoting over half their paycheck to rent is skyrocketing. There has been a 16% increase nationwide. The worst hit areas used to be urban areas. Rural poverty is on a dramatic rise now. There is a 51% increase in rural areas of families living with housing affordability issues.
There are two to three year wait times for section eight housing, and money not being allocated for the issue. This is America still right?
