Talking Points Memo has a transcript of Joe Lieberman's appearance this week on the Chris Matthews show. In his appearance, Klein Made the following prediction.
This is just a guess, but it's an educated and a reported guess. The Democrats in the Senate are getting really, really angry at Joe Lieberman, especially because he's been accusing them of undermining the troops' morale. And Joe Lieberman isn't too happy with the Democrats, either. I think there's going to be an explosion and perhaps a party switch pretty soon.
Klein, for a change, gets it right. Sometimes, enough is simply enough. If Harry Reid and the leadership could stand Lieberman taking his ball and going to the CFL party after losing the primary, one in a Machiavellian sense could understand the need to try to keep him on "our side" in a tightly contested Senate. Now though, things are much different.
Lieberman is on a crusade to smear the entire Democratic Party. We want the enemy to win. We are giving comfort and aid to the enemy. We are emboldening Al Qaeda. This simply can not be tolerated. This is coming to a head. Whomever wins our Presidential Primary, will be opposed to this war. You don't have to be a psychic to predict that Lieberman will endorse their opponent.
Why should the democratic party wait until then to decide that he is Zell Miller Jr.? In the long run, or even in the slug through the primary season, it's only in Joe Lieberman's interest to remain quasi affiliated with democrats. Is there a person who is not yet convinced that Lieberman plans on stabbing our nominee (further) in the back?
Hey hey, hey Joe, Pick up your ball, it's time to go.
